One of 268 bottles of Caol Ila single malt whisky drawn from a single refill hogshead and bottled at 48.6% ABV for Douglas Laing’s Xtra Old Particular range. This is a maritime dram in which Caol Ila’s typically-fierce peatiness has burned down to embers; the spirit is redolent with coal dust and ashy smoke, run through with a sharp and distinct menthol note.
